(PS#306R, 391R, 586R [no active members on this line]) . |
GY | John Abner Park(e) (01GY1) (no dates given, no marriage information known) to son Abner Park(e) (02GY1), (c1797, NY – 1880, OH) married Sarah Pennell by 1824, in New Jersey. Scant materials exist for this line. Member’s Lineage application gives the father of John Abner Park(e) as a David Park(e). Member cites Virkus, Compendium of American Genealogy, Vol. VI, Page 552 (1937). Virkus needs to be handled carefully as it has often been proven wrong. Search of records within the Society turned up no definite connection for the David-John Abner-Abner line, although circumstantial evidence does seem to point to a possible connection either to Roger, LK=K or Alexander, LK=KY, as these lines have definitely identified members in the same areas as the principals of this line at the same time. DNA testing on a known Park/e/s descendant would be most helpful. The group sheets we have are based on searches of the relevant census records 1850 and later.Source materials: Virkus, Compendium, Vol. VI; Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, census work. Other than Abner who married Sarah Pennell we have no children for the purposed John Abner Park
(PS#314D, [no active members on this line]) |
HY | Elizabeth Parks (1742, VA/NC – ????, VA/NC) (represented) married Nathan Britton/Brittain, 1760 in Greensboro, NC. Fragment female lines are often the most difficult to trace, unless one stumbles on some record showing a parent living with them. Thus far we have had no other traces on this Elizabeth.Source materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members. Nine children known. Sarah/Susan Britton (1766, VA – 1828, IN), married Hezekiah Applegate, c1781. Had Issue.
(PS#319D, [no active members on this line]) |
IY | William Muir Park (1843, Sct – 1899, AL) (represented) m. (1) Margaret Coats, 1864, Sct, m2) Jennett McConnachi, c1883, AL. Had children by both marriages. We also know of William’s father and grandfather, going back into the 18th century. This is an Immigrant Line.Source materials: The Parke Family History, Billy Jean Petty, (1981), and Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member. Eleven children by Coats, three more by McConnachi. John Coats Park (1877, Sct – 1918, AL), m. Susan Docherty. 1899. Had issue. Other children of William and Margaret were:

JY | Zephaniah (Seth) Parks (1792, NY – 1874, IA); represented; married Leah Green, 1816, in Indiana. He had a brother named Samuel. He served in the 1812 War.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member. (PS#372R [no active members on this line]) |
KY | Alexander Park (c.1709, Scotland or Ireland – ????, NJ); represented; married Unknown sometime before c. 1739. Possibly a total of five children of which three came or were born in New Jersey between 1739 and 1744. The two earlier children born in Ireland, stayed in Ireland. It is believed that Alexander perhaps came originally from Scotland, to Ireland, and thence to the Colonies.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, DNA evidence. Children of Alexander:
(PS#1331, as Lineage Leader. Many others in this line) |
LY | William Parkes (1801, Eng. – ????, probably IA); represented; married Sarah Redfern, 1825, England. This lineage key presents an interesting problem for surname/family genealogists, as there was a second marriage (and divorce), the two children of that second marriage taking the Parks name instead of using their birth name of Slack. This is an Immigrant Line.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis. Four children known: J. Alfred Parks (1828, Eng. – 1864, WI) m. Sarah Simms, 1849 England, Had issue.
(PS#328) While, technically the descendant member does not have a verified Park/e/s line from this lineage key |
MY | Thomas Park (???? – ????); represented; married Abigael (Unknown), bef. 1793. Early generations are lacking in detail. Research currently on hand is in excess of 15 years old. Very possibly this Thomas is a descendant of the Robert-Thomas Line (LK=T), a possibility strengthened by the fact that a descendant of this Thomas is named Minor Robert, a given name found only in the Robert-Thomas line. Further research with newly available materials and DNA testing could probably prove or disprove this connection. Only two children are known and the documentation is thin.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis. Two children known:
(PS#331) |
NY | William Parks, (1813, KY – ????); represented; married Paulina (Perlina) (Unknown), bef. 1838, (1819, KY – ????) . Four children known. There is a clear DNA connection to the Thomas of Virginia line (LK=C) but the connection has not been found as yet.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis. Four children known:
(PS#1472, 348D) |
OY | Thomas P. Parke, (????, KY – 1847, IA); represented; maried Mary Ann Estes, bef. 1828, (c1807, VA – 1853, IA). Five children known. No active member in this line at this time.Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member, Census Analysis. Four children known:
(PS# 620R, [no active members on this line]) This key was formerly used to describe: 01OY1 Emaline (Emily) Parke, (c1821, NY – ????), m. Thomas Ford, circa 1843, who is now |
PY | The earliest generation is not well documented. Three members in the Society lay claim to this lineage, though they do not all agree as to the founding ancestor nor details related to said ancestor. Both instances are listed here. Further research is badly needed on this line.1. James R. Park (c1789, SC or KY – ????); represented; married Charity (or Elizabeth) Lewis circa 1820 (1790, SC or VA – ????). Nine children known. 2. William James Park (1798, KY – ????); represented; married Maria Gunter 1818 in Williamson Co., Source materials: lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis. Nine children known:

QY | Ruhamah Park (1804,VA Ð 1879,IA) (Represented) married George Baughman, 1826 in Licking Co., OH.Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member. Eleven children known, surname Baughman:
(PS#1191) |
RY | Aaron Parks, (1764, CT Ð 1848, ??) (Represented) married 1) Rachael (Dolly) Walker, 1785, Windham Co., CT, secondly a Rebecca (Unknown) circa 1806. There is a total of 11 children by these two marriages. This is another lineage that has offered some challenges over the years. Current theory now makes the above named Aaron as the forebear of this line, all descendant members of which come through Ebenezer Walker (Wesley in some places) to Alanson or Alonzo. Variations in names are not uncommon in this period of time. While there is still some question as to the first two generations, the line is solid via a paper trail from Alanson on. DNA evidence leads us to believe that this line is connected to the Robert-Thomas line (LK= T). Further research is needed on this point. Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis, By the first marriage there are eight known children:
By the second marriage there are three known children:

SY | Elizabeth Parke, (1714, PA Ð ?????) (Represented) married Robert Hazlett, 1730 in Philadelphia, PA (1705, Ireland Ð 1774, NJ. There are eight children known.Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member, Census Analysis. Eight children known, surname Hazlett:
(PS#383R [no active members on this line]) |
TY | Thomas Parks, (1756, PA Ð ?) (Represented) married Hannah Sweet, before 1782, (c1760 Ð 1791). Information is very limited. It has been presumed (not proven) that Thomas had brothers Arthur and James, since their names often appeared together in court documents of Fleming, Mason and Bourbon Counties, KY. Due to the fact t, and they all appear to have gone to Kentucky, as their names all appear in many court documents of Fleming, Mason and Bourbon County. ly group sheets were ever provided, little is know of this line. There was at least one child, perhaps more. Source: Lineage Papers of PS#235 (Deceased).Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member. Only two children are known:
(PS#387R [no active members on this line]). |
UY | Reuben Parks (1769, MD Ð 1845, MD) (Represented) married Priscilla Croswell, 1805, Accomac, VA. Information is scant and sometimes confusing. Reuben’s farther has been reported either as a Job Parks who married Rachel Crockett, or as another Reuben. There is also some confusion as to the number of children: the Society is accepting the number as seven. If the parent is indeed Job, then this line connects to LK=VV, John of Accomack Co., VA [Job Jr.-Job Sr.-Arthur-John 01VV1 by his first marriage]. An acceptable DNA candidate in this line would solidify this connection. Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member, Census Analysis, Seven children known:
(PS#1178R [no active members on this line]).) Formerly, This key was used to describe: 01UY1 Capt. William Parke married Mrs. Abigail (Axford) McCollum. |
VY | Lineage Key not currently in use. |
WY | Robert Parks, ( VT Ð 1828, NY), (Represented) married Mary Ogden before 1826. She supposedly died in 1879, in Courtland, MI. While there are many hits for Robert and Mary (Ogden), almost all of them show only the one child. We believe he died early (hence only two children in our records), and that she remarried, after 1829, to an E. Welch.Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant member, Census Analysis Two Children known:
(PS#401R [no active members on this line]). |
XY | Margaret Parks (1752 Ð ????) (Represented) married Dr. Thomas Essex circa 1770. Since this line goes into Hampshire County, Virginia (later West Virginia) there is a possibility that it connections to the Roger line of New Jersey.Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis Two Children known:
(PS#402R, 738R [no active members on this line]). |
YY | See the Double Letter Lineage Keys. |
ZY | John Parks, (c1758, SC Ð ????) (Represented) married Elizabeth Carson (a widow) 1791 in South Carolina. We have no dates for Elizabeth Carson other than the marriage date. Present lineage information is very thin showing only perhaps 9 children (3 males, 6 females) of which only one is named.Source Materials: Lineage papers and correspondence of descendant members, Census Analysis Children known though not all named:
(PS#403, 1345R). |
